15 Translation Programs to Help You Become a Legal Translation Services Provider

So, you want to be a legal translator and offer legal translation services.

Cool, man. I applaud you. That can be a tough industry to get into. But if you have experience, a little bit of luck, and some patience, the sky’s the limit in terms of how successful a legal translator you can be.

Most translators that offer legal translation services are currently working also in the legal field while translating or have worked in the industry in the past.

That experience is invaluable because of two reasons:

  1. Legalese is real.
  2. It goes beyond just different grammar and legal vocabulary.

If you’re a lawyer, you know what I’m talking about.

If you’re a bilingual or multilingual lawyer, you really get what I’m saying here.

Now, that being said, there are plenty of translator offering legal translation services who are not former lawyers or judges and who are doing an excellent job.

However, these people had to learn the jargon, the grammar, the vocabulary. There is no getting around that if you want to become a top-notch legal translator.

If you’re not going to get there by already having the background as a lawyer or a judge, or working in the court system, then you’re going to need to use another method.

And one of the ways to do that is by enrolling in a translation course for legal translators (or for those that want to provide legal translation services).

If you fall into this camp, then the following list is for you.

It is a list of 15 translation courses throughout the world that you can take in order to help you understand enough to become a legal translation services provider.

Legal translation is a professional job. It can’t be done by a traditional translator. Stepes provides on demand legal translation services for corporate law to government regulations.

    1. Thanks, Jennifer. You’re right in that legal translation is a professional job, just like any other type of translation. Thanks for commenting.
